Both emotionally and artistically, intellectually and scientifically, I am strongly drawn to the inspiring epoch following the turn of the last century, when disruptive art movements like Cubism, Neo Plasticism and Constructivism flourished and the ‘Staatlichen Bauhaus’ saw the light of day.
Consequently, I am fascinated by the geometric abstractions, experimental work and writings of the groundbreaking avantgarde artists involved, but I am equally drawn to the well-founded theories and publications of scientists who were at the basis of the ‘Gestalttheory’ and significantly informed our understanding of ’Perception’.
In the conduct of my research and work, I gradually realized that my visual process unfolds along the abstract threefold pattern of ‘construction, deconstruction, and reconstruction´ based on a single image. I adopted this as a ‘trinity’ and as core to my creative and production concept (under continuous scrutiny), in which I conceive the (scientifically) intuitive and intellectual modes of visual structuring in connection with (practically) distinct perceptual viewpoints. Consequently, I fervently advocate an enhanced awareness and relevance of visual thinking, as it critically informs our social judgement in dialogue, debate, and conflict over urgent societal issues.
In summary: advocating visual thinking through construction, deconstruction and reconstruction.
